TDI Semi-close Circuit Rebreathers

Dräger Rebreathers

Dräger has researched and developed Semi Closed Circuit rebreather diving technology for many years; this expertise is now available in the form of the DrägerDolphin and DrägerRay SCC rebreathers.

TDI DrägerDolphin SCC Rebreather

The first rebreather released in 1995 as the Dräger Atlantis before having a minor facelift and becoming the Dräger Dolphin, this semi closed unit is still as popular as ever with recreational and even technical divers. It has been designed to use EANx mixtures in a pre mixed cylinder to maximize the duration of recreational dives. It is not intended, nor designed to handle decompression dives, and we recommend a depth limit of 35m. The system works on a constant flow rate which means that the pre mixed Nitrox continually flows through a small jet into the breathing loop. The diver simply decides the maximum dive depth, and then selects the appropriate jet size to give enough gas to breathe at the target depth. The diver then cross-references a look up chart to determine what the final 02% will be in the loop, and then plans the dive. In 20m of water, the SCR should give you nearly 2 hours of in water time.

Mounted with two breathing bags for increased breathing comfort, the unit is supplied by a specific nitrox mix, separate from the bailout tank. The active addition system can be rigged with either a 32%, a 40%, a 50%, a 60% or a pure oxygen jet. These jets deliver respectively 15.7L/min, 10.4L/min, 7.5L/min, 5.7 L/min and 1-2L/min. Mounted with a typical size tank (4-5L) the Draeger Dolphin will allow the diver to stay immersed for 1-3 hours.

The Dolphin breathing bags are built are back mounted, tucked in the housing. The Inhale side holds a capacity of 2L, the Exhale side capacity is 0.5L and is mounted with the OPV that can be regulated between 18-25mmb. Breathing characteristic form back mount bags are easy exhale and slightly higher resistance when inhale, however if the diver rolls over, the situation inverts.

The Dolphin's canister is an axial design and contains 2.5kg of sorbe allowing a maximum scrubber time of 180min (figures from Draeger). This canister can be halved with the half fill canister device, ideal for pool sessions or discover Rebreather diving or simply for shorter immersions.

Hold a Nitrox certification
Course Duration: 2/3 days

TDI DrägerRay SCC Rebreather

One of the latest additions to the Rebreather world is the new Dräger Ray SCR Rebreather. With its over the shoulder counter lungs and very streamlined design this unit is both easy and fun to dive. Again, it is not intended, nor designed to handle decompression dives, and has an operating depth limit of 22m.

The design of the Draeger Ray is extremely simple. It's an all in one unit and carries only one tank supplying the unit and the bailout. The unit is based on a active addition system and can be rigged with either a 32%, a 50% or a pure oxygen jet. These jets deliver respectively 15.7L/min, 7.5L/min and 1-2L/min. Mounted with a typical size tank (4-5L) the Draeger Ray will allow the diver to stay immersed for 1-2 hours.

The Ray breathing bags are built in the BCD and are X shaped. Resting on the diver shoulder, the bags descend on the chest and in the back of the user, making the breathing characteristic unique to the Ray. The bags come in a single size 2.5L bags and are mounted with to OPV that can be regulated between 18-25mmb.

The Ray's canister is an axial design and contains 1.25kg of sorbe allowing a maximum scrubber time of 70min (figures from Draeger).

Prerequisites: Hold an open water certification
Hold a Nitrox certification
Course Duration: 2/3 days

In addition to training we also sell and service a variety of rebreathers and stock accessories, including Sofnolime, Oxygen Cells, Rebreather Computers and Computer Interfaces.

How Much Will This Cost ?

All TDI training materials and all the main equipment rental are included in the course. You also need a bottom timer or multi gas computer, a liftbag, and a reel if you don't have any (these can be rent through Diver's Network), you will need to pay for your gases. Go to check prices. EMAIL US with any questions.
