PADI IDC Staff Instructor - Subic, Manila, Anilao, Philippines
Purpose
This eleven-day program is designed to provide you, PADI MSDTs with the additional training necessary to staff PADI Instructor Development programs. This course builds upon your experience and abilities as a dive educator while concentrating on developing evaluation and counseling skills. Through independent study, classroom sessions, guided evaluation training and an internship, you�ll learn to teach PADI Assistant Instructor course and assist with the PADI Instructor Development programs.
Goals
- Familiarize you with the PADI IDC standards, curriculum and procedures.
- Familiarize you with the PADI Assistant Instructor course standards, curriculum and certification procedures.
- Develop your evaluation skills to an effective and consistent level.
- Develop your counseling and critique skill to an effective level.
- Further develop your presentation skills to a role model level.
- Prepare you for staffing PADI IDC programs.
Duties
As a PADI IDC Staff Instructor you are authorized to:
- Independently teach and certify PADI Assistant Instructors.
- Conduct PADI IDC training segments under direct supervision of a PADI Course Director.
- Evaluate and critique candidate knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations.
- Provide counseling and remedial training for instructor candidates and IDC Staff Instructor candidates.
- Assist with training during instructor level continuing education programs, such as PADI Specialty Instructor Training courses.
- Observe the orientation and closing sessions of PADI Instructor Examinations.
Course Overview
This program is divided into four sections:
- Knowledge, Diving skills and teaching presentations pre-assessment
- Dive theory exam (physics, physiology, RDP, Equipment and Skills & Environment)
- Standards Exam
- Present one micro teaching knowledge development presentation
- Present one confined water teaching presentation
- Present 20 skills demonstration quality

Participate in four PADI Course Director Presentations:
- The IDC Staff Instructor course orientation
- Instructor Development Standards, Procedures and Curriculum
- How to organize and conduct the PADI Assistant Instructor course
- The psychology of evaluation and counseling
Using video and live presentations you will practice
- Evaluating candidate knowledge development presentations
- Evaluating candidate confined water teaching presentations
- Evaluating candidate open water presentation
- Evaluating candidate skills demonstration quality
- Practical application (internship)
- Observe organization, communication and preparation for an IDC
- Audit all IDC training segments
- Assist with IDC logistics and arrangements
